Hmmm! No mention of how the father died. I suspect he offed the old fella cos he wouldn't give him his pension money. However, I doubt if it will even be investigated. It's too easy to close the book on this one.

Over a period of....? unknown, so divide by 3 = Y1.2 per year (maximum)

The accused is unemployed and staying at home watching TV on expense of the government hand out. I wonder what he will do when he come out of jail? Will he wait for his next of kin to get freer pension? Does he have to repay back the money he took? I remember last year reading about the pension scandals in Japan, were people had taken pensions on account of death corps. 'Is accused one of them?' Did he spray the apartment with ‘French perfume’ to avoid smell?

Is it me or has anyone else gotten quite wary of the general public here in the last few years.

Yes, there's the question - how did the father die?

What does 'abandoning a body' exactly mean? If he was hiding it, he was 'keeping' it, right? Or does 'abandoning a body' means, not giving it an official (reported?) funeral?

Indeed! His dad probably was some high paid executive in the 50-60s and this man was the spoiled son.

Maybe he just wanted to give his father a good funeral!

This is one crime that seems to be unique to Japan. You can understand the motivation. But it's still weird.

I have to disagree because I remember reading about similar cases in the U.S. and EU.

Yeah, exact same thing happens here in the US. Rarely make the news though.

Then how do you know it occurs?

Is there a "Best Parasite Singlist" award?
