Limbless torso discovered floating off Kanagawa coast
KANAGAWA —
A man and a woman discovered the torso of a male body floating in the water near the shore in Miura City on Monday, police said.
The pair noticed the man’s body - minus his head, arms and legs - at about 3 p.m. and called police. Police said that several days had passed since the man’s death and that his body parts appeared to have been severed with a knife.

Not a big problem because it is probably a nobody. But if it was the body of a former primer minister or health minister, they would run TV programs trying to make the culprit feel guilty for him/her to turn himself/herself in.

Deguchisan, I was being ironic. I think he is for sure been murdered. How could anyone cut off his own head? That is technically imposible and of course cutting his own limbs would have been also impossible because he would have bleed to death after the first one... argh... An accident.. cutting off 4 limbs and the head "with a knife"? 5 deadly accidents in a row... Or maybe he died somehow and then somebody cut him in pieces afterwards? For what? Anyway, someone who does it can be considered a murderer...
So in fact I agree with you, but not just "probably"... For sure! :)

It is OK, because maybe you haven't been involved in high-seas murder before. Actually they are assuming it is a knife, but it could be piranahs, sharks or even super congealed plankton that caused the limblessness. A limbless torso has not necessarily always been that way.

I was horrified to read some of the comments posted here - the poor man must have suffered tremendously - not a matter to laugh or joke about - we must show respect for the dead.

I agree with Polarmalik - show some respect for the deceased! If it turns out he was a Nazi war criminal or something equally despicable, I'll gladly say good riddance. But until we know anything, a man has STILL lost his life, likely in a brutal way. That's not something to scoff at.
