JPY23,000, and how many lives destroyed? I'm beginning to think that the inability to see any of this objectively, or imagine the consequences of their actions, has become a national character disorder.
I can't understand one thing: it seems that always in Japaneses murders the cause of such crimes are connected to money (theft, insurance, etc.) or very related to it. Isn't that a little strange? I have always been said that thieves aren't usually murderers and vice versa, at least in Europe. Isn't that a way to find an easy excuse for a bigger crime? In fact, what kind of theft is that of 23.000 yen? It's utterly ridiculous if it were the cause, which I don't think so.
I wonder if it has dawned on Mr. Matsumura yet, while he sits on death row, that he could have just asked for the money and they may have given it to him. Especially if he pleaded pitifully and gave them a sob story about needing it for a new iPod or something.
