Man arrested after alleged abduction attempt on two children in Tokyo

Police in Tokyo's Koto Ward on Monday arrested a man on suspicion of attempting to abduct two children, both under the age of 10, after he allegedly persuaded them to following him.

Noriyasu Tsunoda, 48, a self-employed businessman, spotted the kids, a 7-year-old boy and his 4-year-old sister, playing in a park, and approached them with an electric wire in his hands, Fuji TV reported. Police said Tsunoda told the kids he was about to go and sell the wire and coerced them into following him.

The children followed the man for approximately five minutes, but later returned to the park where they reunited with their mother.

The mother reported the incident to the police. Tsunoda was found in close proximity to the park and was arrested on the spot.

The suspect was quoted by police as saying the children followed him on their own.

Few LUCKY!!! the mind boggles. Parents need to teach "stranger danger", Japan is NOT as safe as some think.

I did a quick search for the name. He does sale wire! He also "cooks"!

I am not into "victim blaming"... but, I see no victims.

the mother left two kids along, unattended. He shouldn't be talking to kids that he doesn't know... unless he was concerned for them because their "mother" was not with them! Never talk to any kids about your love life, your job... or, what you are doing! They are "KIDS"! They will say "anything"! Avoid contact!

Glad that the children were safe. I guess he will get one week jail sentence suspended for 10 years , and will do it again next week.

I guess he will get one week jail sentence suspended for 10 years...

I'm wondering why you say that, do you know of a precedent?

Another mother not paying attention to where her kids are and what they are doing. I see it almost everyday. I actually saved a young boy's life the other day as he ran out into the street while his mother was staring off into space. It beggers belief sometimes.

If I have traced right guy on Facebook, than I am afraid what he would have done with those kids, if he had really tried to abduct them. The guy I found on FB has a weird hobby of cooking. Weird because he kills the birds with electric shock and later cook them. All those gruesome pics are available on FB.

Sorry...but has a crime actually been commited here? Hard to see where it has been, other than perhaps parental negligence on the part of the mother. Not to worry, never let the facts get in the way of a good witch hunt, eh...?

Say "no" to strangers! Will people please import that expression into Japan?

Weird story. He "sells wire"? How in the world does that attract kids? Anyway, they turned back and nothing happened --- as suspect as the guy is, I really don´t see what the cops want to charge him with. Talking about selling wire??

How in the world does someone manage to abduct TWO children in a park from right under their mothers nose?!

Rhetorical question, dont bother answering. I already know. They werent anywhere near their mother's nose :(
