Police in Minamiaso, Kumamoto Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 70-year-old man after the body of his wife was found in a car.

Police said the woman, Chieko Kiyota, had been strangled to death. Her body was found in the passenger seat of a car alongside a highway at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Fuji TV reported.

Police said Chieko's husband Etsuji called them and said he had strangled his wife to death. When they arrived at the scene, police found Etsuji sitting in the driver's seat.

Yet, other than a brief detainment for questioning, nothing will happen to hi because he is old. But that's just my speculation,

I wonder how long this guy had been retired from work? My guess is that once he retired from working the normal salary man life he found out that he and the wife had grown apart and he probably couldn't put up with her and she with him being home. Or, as we have seen here on JT, the wife was sick and he didn't think that he could take care or continue to take care of her alone.

Either case, such a sad way for a person to die, by the hands of someone supposedly on your side.

Guy probably just got fed up with his wife's nagging about his driving and he lost it. (sarcasm)

The chances were that the 70-year-old man ended up strangling his wife to death on account of the reasons entirely beyond his control, if they were pressures of caring for his wife or else.

What a domestic tragedy! RIP.
