    can't imagine... stinks and sad..but what's the background of this murder between two of them?

    The dreaded email busted again. Bet the old koot thought just because he deleted it off his phone that was the end of it.

    In a way I pray the woman simply died from the skull fracture or drowned before waking up. There wouldn't be a whole hell of a lot worse than waking up in complete darkness, up to god knows what level in fetid human waste and bacteria, and suffocating while trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

    RIP.

    A Japanese septic tank is not deep and is a doable escape with the iron lid unlocked . If it was a Benjo and the victim ........himmmmm

    Do these clown Jcops even try to collect hair, fiber or any kinds of trace evidence....? Anyone Know...?

    Some-how I highly-highly doubt they do anything besides taking a few pictures and then deciding who they will force a confession out of....

    I mean, sure, this guy seems like a likely suspect... But did they even get a warrant, then go to the guys house with a vacuum, scooping up any trace evidence that might link him to the crime scene, or even from the victim...? Or is this to fancy and high-tech for them...?

    This is like stuff developed countries have been doing for 30 years now, but I think Japan is still stuck in the meiji era when it comes to police work.

    At her 28, she should stand up and grab another man. He denied the allegations...'Morita had been absent from work, police said'... In fact it doesn't mean that he is guilty unless DNA tests are performed. Hard case for cops to file charges. Why was he arrested? Does cops have anough evidence to charge him???

  • Disillusioned at 06:18 PM JST - 20th June

    Since last Monday—three days after her body was found—Morita had been absent from work, police said.

    Guilty! Send him to the hanging judge!

    • And, a congratulations to JT translators for correcting it to a septic tank and not a sludge tank.

    This whole case stinks. What a way to go.

  • Midnightpromise at 09:26 PM JST - 20th June

    Yes, she should have walked out on him JUST before he bopped her over the head.

    @mindovermatter/BBLeo/Disillusioned

    It's true that J-cops are often clowns but there's no suggestion as yet that they are being one on this occasion. He's obviously a suspect to one degree or another, and arresting him is perfectly legitimate if there is a possibility that he may destroy evidence or go on the run.

    Let's hold our fire until he actually gets charged, which is unlikely to happen purely on the evidence listed in this article (even in Japan). We can of course say that they will simply beat a confession out of him, but in the light of recent events the cops are unlikely to do that. And there's nothing in the article to suggest that they are not looking for further forensic evidence.

    What I don't like is the way details of the investigation, like the identity of the suspect and the evidence that they have so far get so freely leaked to the media like in the article above...cops here are under too much pressure to deliver, and to satisfy the public that they are doing a job. What this results is a tendency for "trial by media" and a likelihood of an innocent person having his/her reputation destroyed.

    They have to beat a confession out of him or into yet. Thats how it works doesn't it?

  • dreamdrifter at 11:07 PM JST - 20th June

    @scoobydoo

    Beating - likely not. Immense psychological pressure - yes. That's the way it usually works.

    I remember this story from a few weeks ago. Poor woman. It's nice to see they finally have a suspect in custody. Let's hope they can keep him behind bars.

    Poor woman and poor wife.

    It seems the greatest enemy that the Japanese have are themselves. They're killing each other daily.
