Police in Saitama said Saturday they have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting and robbing a 24-year-old woman as she walked home last week.
Police identified the suspect as Yasuyuki Chigira, a resident of Tokyo's Itabashi Ward. TV Asahi quoted police as saying that Chigira has admitted to coming up behind the woman at around 7:30 p.m. on Aug 17 in Kita Ward and choking her. He then stole her handbag containing about 7,000 yen and fled.
The woman suffered injuries that will take about three weeks to heal, police said.
Police said Chigira has also admitted to carrying out five similar attacks in Saitama this month, saying he needed money for living expenses.

There is a very high demand for workers now. = Could easily get a (another) job if he wanted.

They didn't finish the quote..."saying he needed money for living expenses, but was too lazy to get a job"

Well, obviously, the answer was to get a job, but now, hopefully, he will have a new job as somebody's batch in prison!

More street crime in Japan (and Saitama again). Getting less and less like the safety country everyone used to say it is.
