Man held for attempted murder after stabbing mother in back
TOKYO —
Police said Monday they have arrested a 34-year-old man in Tokyo’s Katsushika Ward over the attempted murder of his mother.
According to police, the suspect, who has been identified as Keiji Tobe, telephoned the emergency services and told the operator that he had stabbed his mother, NTV reported.
Tobe was arrested at his home at around 4:30 p.m. Police say the 60-year-old woman was seriously injured in the attack.
During questioning, Tobe reportedly told investigators that he had been arguing with his mother over how to spend her pension, on which the two were living, NTV reported. He was quoted as saying that he flew into a rage and stabbed his mother with a kitchen knife.

Umm, Keiji Tobe If you'd killed your Mom there would be no more pension money for you. The Cackle Factory or Jail time of some years is what he should get for his trouble. Oh and he should not be allowed near his Mother.

Plus, not knowing why he doesn't have a job - perhaps a mental or physical problem - but he really should have a job doing something.

That's funny, right now Townwork is listing over 1,000 jobs in Shinjuku for people with no experience or training (mostly cell phone company sales jobs) so I don't see why people refuse to work and mooch off others....unless those people they're mooching off are total pushovers (like a lot of moms tend to be)

Admittedly, she obviously failed in raising her son to become a decent adult. Extremely disturbing. Arguing with parents is fine, occasional shouting might still be okay. After all, there must be someone responsible for all the stubbornness I've inherited. But violence against elderly parents?

The guy sounds like a parasite single. Who is to blame for that? I'm going to go with mommy who didn't toss baby bird from the nest ten years ago. There are plenty of jobs out there for people. Thing is, many think they are above them. Mom let's them live at home, pay no rent and gives them money. Parents here need to step up and teach their kids some responsibility - getting tired of reading about spoiled kids stabbing their parents. The guy is a loser. Obviously. Hope mom recovers and the son spends a few years in jail - though once again, sponging off others.
Also, why is she getting money at 60? I thought you had to be 65 to collect!

I believe that there is not enough information to condemn this man for anything other than stabbing his mother in the back, which is pretty heinous. However, there could be many reasons for his living with his mother and not working. As many pointed out, he might have some sort of mental disability. As tmarie noticed, his mother is only 60 and receiving a pension. Why? Perhaps she is disabled and needs constant care (which might be why the son has no job).
I am definitely NOT trying to defend this man, but I am also saying that we should not just jump to conclusions no matter how obvious they may seem. I agree that there is a strong possibility that everyone is correct in that he may just be a lazy psychopath, but there may also be other reasons.
Regardless of why he is living with his mother, there is absolutely no reason for any kind of violence never mind what he did. I also think that there is a very strong possibility that the mother herself probably pushed all his "buttons" and just didn't realize how far he could be pushed.
Unless it comes out that she accidentally fell backwards onto a knife, I think that there is some serious dysfunction going on in that family. I hope she recovers, though.

What a loser, and mummy got a wake up call, she should have tossed this piece of lazy filth out the door 14 years ago, made him grow up get a job make his own way in the world. now she almost paid the ultimate price for mothering her son so much. Silly silly people.
