Man arrested for convenience-store robbery in Yokohama

KANAGAWA —

Police on Thursday arrested a man for robbing a convenience store in Yokohama. Tsuyoshi Konno, 47, was arrested for allegedly robbing the store 4:50 a.m. Thursday morning, threatening a 40-year-old employee with a knife. After the employee yelled out, Konno, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, fled from the store.

He was arrested about one hour later on the street 2 km from the crime scene after police obtained a description of what he was wearing from surveillance camera footage. Police said Konno has admitted to the charge and his involvement in five similar robbery cases this year.
