Police in Tokyo's Machida have arrested a 71-year-old man for disturbing the peace and interfering with official police business.

According to police, at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, they received a noise complaint from an apartment complex. As police officers arrived at the apartment, a man standing on a second-floor balcony threw a piece of metal at them, Sports Nippon reported. The man, identified as Akio Kaneko, was also heard screaming, "I've got a rope. I'm going to kill myself!"

At around 10:45 a.m., police officers broke into the apartment and apprehended Kaneko. Several knives and other dangerous items were found on the balcony where he had been standing at the time of his arrest.

I think he just wanted to make his presence known. As you know, nobody want be treated as if they didn't exist. However, he did it in the wrong way. Yes, it's very disturbing.

At any rate, he seems to be pain on the Machida city.

Maybe the police need a separate department for a professional psychologist (if they don't have one)...police themselves are not trained to deal with mental disabilities, and they can be victims who might also need some sort of counselling.
