Akita man arrested after falling asleep drunk in stranger's house

AKITA —

Akita police on Sunday arrested a 32-year-old man for breaking and entering after he got drunk, entered another man’s home and fell asleep on Saturday night. According to reports, Nobuhiro Sato entered the home of a 64-year-old Akita City resident that was a few hundred meters away from his own, climbed the stairs to the second floor and fell asleep around 10:30 p.m.

The home owner’s wife called 110 and reported that there was a stranger sleeping in their home. When police arrived and awoke Sato, he appeared confused, saying, “Where am I?”

Sato told police that he had recently been transferred to Morioka City and had returned to his home in Akita City when he went out with colleagues and got drunk. Police suspect that, on his way back from drinking, he found the front door of a nearby house unlocked, entered the home and fell asleep in an unused room on the second floor.

Sato was quoted by police as saying: “I have absolutely no recollection of anything.”

A police spokesman said: “This is the first time we’ve had an incident like this happen here, but we’ve gotten calls from media all over the country. We believe it to be an effect of SMAP’s Tsuyoshi Kusanagi getting arrested.”

Its interesting contrasting this to the Okinawa incident involving the soldier who did the same thing.

And... I really don't see how they can draw the SMAP conclusion. Honestly. What does it have to do with anything? Are police in this country just trained to jump to really weird conclusions? There was a burglary in Saitmaa today... It must be NORTH KOREA! : )

Since he didn't break into the house, was he charged with being drunk and orderly?

  • 0

    Nessie

No. No. No. He was NOT arrested for falling asleep drunk. He was arrested for breaking and entering. Get it right, headline writers.

Why the hell is this making headlines? It's a shame that this incident involving a grown ass man has to be supposedly connected with the dude from SMAP incident, its apples and oranges. Wouldn't it be more mature to say that this gentleman made a mistake on his own and its no big deal. I guess the "victims" will start locking their door.

I got really smapped one day and ended up sleeping on the sidewalk. When I woke up I really got surprised how in the hell I ended up there. I must have fallen asleep in the club and the good for nothing owners probably carried me out of it. So, if you smap, do not get too smapped.

Well don't blame him. He didn't know where he was. This is workmanship of 'BOOZE.' He just made a mistake entering the wrong house. No harm was done. Find will do for him Judge, and alcohol should get life behind the bars. 'Ha Ha!'

It's Akita, I thought this was normal behavior. Seriuosly my wife has family in Akita and seems that people up there can really pack away the fire water.

It doesn’t say, but did this guy get his house searched? And if not why not?

This reminds me of that time I got totally smapped and went home to beat my kids only to find I was in the wrong house. To make a long story short, I feel really sorry for those kids. My neighbour will never let me live this one down. But maybe that is because I banged his wife that night too.

Oh FFS! I'm sure there have been incidents like this in the past (even if not in Akita).

I do quite like the term "totally SMAPped", though!

This happens all the time in all countries, but unfortunately for this guy it happened shortly after Kusanagi's arrest so it's news. Discuss!

  • 0

    elcitset

Yeah I'm sure he was thinking like the SMAP man. What was the police spokesman drinking?

    Nessie,

Turn me on, SMAP man. Turn me on, SMAP man. Turn me on, SMAP man...

    LOL! Nice.

I've heard that Kimura-san says "I buried Goro" somewhere on the ~Drink! Smap!~ album. You know, after that traffic incident in 2001. . .
