Man held for killing grandparents, torching their bodies in Shimane
SHIMANE —
A 23-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly killing his grandparents at their house in Tsuwano, Shimane Prefecture. Naoki Arita, 23, was arrested for allegedly stabbing his grandparents, Takashi, 81, and his wife Tsurumi, 76, to death and then torching their bodies in the backyard. Police said Arita showed up at a local police station, saying that he had killed his grandparents.
According to police, Arita’s brother, 17, found the victims dead in the backyard of the house around 6:55 p.m. Takashi had two knives in his back and his upper body was burnt, while Tsurumi had stab wounds to her neck.
Police said the suspect quit college in March and has been living with his grandparents, parents and brother since then without working. The parents were away Thursday night, police said.

Ahhhh...things just wouldn't be the same if I couldn't read about another family slaying...
Reason for killing his grandparents?..."I was angry?, frustrated?, lonely?, curious?...the list goes on

Arita,23 has a wife who is 76 yrs old? =p
Anyway, killing-a-family-member-or anybody-turning-himself-up news is so common nowadays that I just turned my attention to the grammar of this sentence.

Maybe the Government is giving incentives, kill a grandparent and save your future social welfare system from being eaten away.

Tsuwano is a beautiful little town, steeped in history. It's a shame to have its image ruined by this loon. May the old couple rest in peace.

It always creeps me out to read about crime stories in either Shimane or Okayama areas, that's where I used to live and work.

Well you never know :P
I read somewhere that Shimane prefecture is the one with the highest rates of depression anywhere in Japan, and neighbouring Tottori is the prefecture with the highest rate of teen pregnancy.
Gotta be a link there somewhere surely?

Imagine that cute little boy you gave otoshidama to on many occasions would be the one to end you and your spouse's life. It's just sad.

What's the motive? Sounds like they should've given him psychotherapy or counseling. The son sounds very disturbed.

This is awful, I lived in this village for 2 years, and taught the 17 year old mentioned in the article. He was one of my best students, very bright, polite kid. His house burned down 4 years ago to boot, right in the middle of the Shimane winter. This family really can't catch a break.
His elder brother was supposed to be a great student too, I can't imagine what the hell happened. What a nightmare.
