Man arrested for menacing children at school in Ishikawa

Police said Wednesday they have arrested a man who threatened school children during sports activities at an elementary school in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture.

According to police, the man showed up on the school grounds just after midday on Tuesday. Fuji TV quoted a parent as saying, “He suddenly came onto the field, with a knife in his hand, and started chasing three children. He didn't say anything."

Police said parents and teachers were able to subdue the suspect, identified as Yukihiro Morota, 31. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said Morota was incoherent and told them he thought the best way to be a murderer was to strike at a place where there were many people, such as a school sports day.

Sick ... lucky no one injured. I wish they keep him several years in jail and not leaving him in the street after he apologize

Jail ? No in a mental hospital for the rest of his life not jail.

Oh, my dog! Safety Japan just keeps getting nuttier! At least once a month there is some loon taking out his fantasies on school children.

Hospitalization yes......rest of his life? We aren't living in the dark ages.

What is up with all these nutters? Targeting random innocent people just for the heck of it. Crazy

I'm slightly surprised he wasn't lynched by the parents. What a loon, threatening school kids.

Wow.... get him some help please.

All praise to the teachers. Subduing a man with a knife is not something done lightly, especially if he is just plain crazy. They should get medals for their courage and their success. And I sure would like more details on their heroism. Did they use those mancatchers on the loony?

Sadly, treatment of the mentally ill in Japan is decades behind the developed world.

He'll be out in a year, "rehabilitated" and back in the Crime or even National news section of this website.

Good news that no one was injured. Just imagine if he had access to firearms...

I'm a firm believer that this is the type of mental illness that is bred through bad parenting.... and it seems to be on the rise.

This is partly why I'm leaving this country before my kid is born - too many sexual deviants and freaks with hang-ups about kids.

Something is odd about some of these incidents. Could it be these characters are out of jobs and want three hots and a cot?

Best of luck finding any place in the world that is safer overall than Japan. I have some beach front property for sale on a deserted island if you are interested.
