Man arrested for posting online threat to blow up tunnel on Odakyu line

A man from Zama in Kanagawa Prefecture has been arrested for posting messages online threatening to cause an explosion in a tunnel on the Odakyu line in Machida. Police said Saturday that the man has been charged with conspiring to obstruct business.

The man has been identified as Hideki Kojima, 38, a local government employee. According to a report on NHK, Kojima posted a message to an online message board on Sept 18 at around 2 a.m. that said: “Prepare yourself because I’m about set off an explosion in the tunnel near Tamagawagakuen-mae Station.”

A member of the public emailed police to warn them of the threat. Police said efforts were then made to coordinate with Odakyu Line officials to strengthen security around the station, NHK reported.

Kojima was quoted by police as saying he had been drinking and as he made his way home, the trains were late, so he got angry and uploaded the message.

Sounds like he was just venting frustration. But the police have to take those types of things seriously until they find out what's going on and the citizen who saw the post and warned the police must have been freaked out by it too.

A VPN can be traced I believe. A JAP (Java Anon Proxy ) may be more difficult to trace.

Funny how they can find out who sent that message but still no one knows where all the spam mail comes from. Sending spam is as illegal as sending an e-mail/posting a message threatening a terrorist attack but no one can trace spam mail down. Funny, huh?

Blame it on alcohol. After crime almost all say that they were drunk. So forbid alcohol like it is forbidden in Religion Of Peace and reduce the crime.

@Tom DeMicke It's easy to trace spam emails. The problem is that if a junk email is from Nigeria (the capital of internet scams), then what are you gonna do ?

Most spam does not come from the spammer's computers but rather from your Window based computers after downloading bots.

I'm glad it was just a threat and that he did not act on it. My daughter and her mother lives in Zama and pass through Tamagawagakuen-mae on a daily basis. Get help with your anger issues people.
