Man arrested for refusing to pay bill after dining at Denny's for 12 hours

A 36-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for refusing to pay a restaurant bill worth 8,950 yen in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture, after he stayed at a “Denny’s” restaurant for 12 hours, police said Tuesday.

According to police, Kenji Sato was arrested after he ordered about 20 items on the menu worth 8,950 yen, and then refused to pay. Sato entered the restaurant at 11 a.m. on Sunday and stayed until 12 midnight without paying the bill. When the restaurant manager asked him to pay, Sato told him he had no money and requested him to call police.

Police said Sato has been in trouble with the law before, including one time when he sneaked into a house when he had no place to sleep.

Or you'd think they'd have clued in on something being wrong when the tab for an individual broke the 2000, 3000, or 4000-yen mark. Seriously, how do you eat that much at Denny's over 12 hours?

Denny's is pretty expensive here. I would say watching the time would be a better indicator.

But anyway it seems you have no idea how much money Denny makes. This is like dropping a one yen coin down a rain grate to him. No, Denny is not going to fish for it or even think about it for one more second.

Maybe the poor old sod was starving. I heard if you is homeless , you cant get welfare. Maybe he was like that and stuffed his face full og grub out of need and desperation.
