wow, so manly huh? this guy have serious issues. I wonder what would be the appropriate punishment....say let him pay a hefty fine and have him terminated from his job.

What the heck is wrong with the men these days? Stomping, kidnapping, forcing kids to do things they don't want to do. Don't feel manly enough?

What exactly drives someone to, without provocation, stomp on little children's feet? What exactly was going through his head as he did this? Would like to find out his motive, if the police can get it out of him.

I also don't think the parents are to blame in this case, I mean imagine you're at a bookstore (a bookstore for god's sake) you won't be expecting people to stomp on your kids' feet would you? There's no strategy against crazy.

That's almost definitely exactly what will happen. The police have charged him, and 99% of the time in Japan, this means that the person will be fired from their job, particularly as he was the company director. And the punishment from the police charging him will be a hefty fine.

Seriously. It's at least comforting there are no stories in the news at all about women committing weird crimes or even murdering their own children, cause that would just be too much.

Last news about that guy- the court has let him go. Prosecution' s move for detention has been denied despite the guy' s confession. Yes, and he is board member of certain IT company... Mental with excellent computer skills, or at least having subordinates with excellent computer skills. BTW, the kidnapper of one of the girls who went missing was working at an IT company too, again in his late 30s. Do you see a pattern here? What's going on?

As they often will. Generally they look at the stability of the person - are they a seishain? Do they have a wife? Do they own a house? Is it their first offense? If they do, then often they are released on their own recognizance.

Many criminals are IT workers does not equate to many IT workers are criminals.

Let me catch him stomping on my kid's foot (or any kid's for that matter). It won't end in a fine. If he's holding a job, he's not so mentally disturbed he doesn't know what he's doing. Sometimes I think there is too much of a 'don't get involved' philosophy in Japan.

I see that...there is a very large number of IT companies in Japan, therefore a lot of Japanese work in IT. I don't see that working in IT has any relationship to criminality.

Is the determination made by the judge public knowledge that his company now knows? Will they not take some action before this bizarre behavior becomes criminally serious?

He must have so much hate to other strangers and went on a crazy on a "stomp the weak and small" extravaganza. In some cases like these is when I appreciate a bit more to come from a poorer country where people have much bigger problems so we have to team with one another.
