Police in Sapporo, Hokkaido, have arrested a 38-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of strangling his girlfriend to death.
According to police, at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, the landlord of an apartment in Shiroishi Ward said that one of his tenants had called him and said he tried to commit suicide with a woman but that only she had died, Sankei Shimbun reported.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Miyaki Ono, a 31-year-old part-time employee, lying facing up in bed. She had rope marks around her neck, indicating she had been strangled to death.
Police questioned Jumpei Hata, who said he was Ono's boyfriend. He admitted that he had killed her over money trouble. He was quoted as saying that he got upset because she spent his savings.

Rope marks? Then at least he can't claim it was a spur of the moment flash of anger... what a waste of life that creature is. Hope he rots. Won't do Miyaki Ono any good though :(

He should have kill himself, not kill the woman! Please sentence him to death with no chance!

He should have gotten a job instead of taking out his frustrations on her. This bodes very well with an article I read the other day about 30% of young males and 25% of young females having no interest in dating and coupling. I guess of them are afraid of taking on a homocidal parasite like this loser!

Should be "Shiroishi Ward".

What is it with people and murder? If you're having financial troubles, just leave.... don't kill somebody! If you want a divorce, just divorce, don't kill somebody!
Too many stupid people in the world! Always taking the route that lands them in prison instead of trying to naturally take care of their problems that don't result in murdering someone.

Best solution would have been to get a job and/or breaking up with her. Now he will be a broke loser for

life.

What? They weren't even married. This is one one thing I couldn't bear. My money is my money, you're money is your money.
Why do Japanese men just give away financial responsibilities to the woman once they tie the knot? I would refuse to live on "an allowance" like if I were 12 yrs old all over again.
This is practice is so engrained in the japanese culture, that this girlfriend just seized the initiative and spent his dough-

I read this everytime.
You guys are living in Japan, one of Asian countries. Not only Japan but lots of other, if not most, Asian countries have similar/ same culture.

I am beyond shocked that this kind of incident would ever occur in Japan being that Japan along with Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world. Perhaps Japan should begin emulating Singapore in regards to consequences for these horrible acts. If Japan emulated Singapore, these types of incidents would be less likely to occur. Nothing like this ever occurs in Singapore. Lets hope that horrible individual suffers severe consequences (a caning followed by a hanging would be excellent).

Yeah, but some of us get a direct deposit bi-monthly instead of monthly. Plus, even if we're married we still might enjoy some financial freedom and not be so restricted like you Japanese men are.
Its so wrong. And so one-sided. Especially if both husband and wife are earning decent salaries each month.

I am not sure that the young lady tried to commit suicide. But he will now have a life full of misery.

He was unemployed.... She was at least working part time... Logic dictates she had the only money... Not him...
