Man arrested for Twitter threat to Kitakyushu mayor over tsunami debris

Police in Kokurakita, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Saturday said they have arrested a man from Seki in Gifu Prefecture for threatening the mayor of Kitakyushu on Twitter.

Mayor Kenji Kitahashi is currently making preparations to receive tons of debris from Tohoku following the devastating earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011.

According to police, on May 22 at around 8:20 p.m., Hiroaki Ozeki, 31, allegedly expressed his opposition to the proposal by uploading a tweet from his home computer, saying, "I'm going to murder that guy," in reference to the mayor, TBS reported.

During questioning, the man was quoted as saying he wanted the mayor to know the dissatisfaction that local communities feel when local politicians decide to accept possibly radioactive debris from Tohoku.

Threats in any form should not be praised.

why is a guy from Gifu prefecture protesting the mayor of Kitakyushu (Fukuoka prefecture)? Oshibori, do you believe one crazy guy making threats on the net is the "voice of the people"?

Politicians make stupid decisions, even dangerous decisions, and this is one of those cases. But threatening violence is not the way to respond. Committing violence would be all the worse. Peaceful resistance is the answer. He can't be said to have been trying to protect his own family at any rate.

It is strange that a dangerous act that Kenji Kitahashi is undertaking such as burning radioactive debris for monetary gain is not the focus of this article.

Unlike Mr angry in Gifu, the actions of Mr Kitahashi are spreading radioactive particles and contaminating all of us-the state sanctions this absurd behavior and the mayor of Kita Kyushu gets to go home at night. Mr Angry in Gifu should attempt to become a mayor. Upon doing so he will find that not only will he be able to make defiling remarks without risk of censure but he will be able to carry out dangerous acts without any personal risk at all.......

What a child. Write a letter of complaint to a newspaper like an adult.

Let me guess, Hiroaki Ozeki is un-employed.
