Man dies following assault in Tokyo apartment
TOKYO —
One man died and another was injured following a fight in a residence in Tokyo’s Ota Ward on Sunday morning.
Police said they received an emergency call to report that a quarrel had broken out at around 5:15 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene and learned that two men who shared an apartment had allegedly been assaulted by a third resident, who has been named as 55-year-old Jinichi Yagisawa, Fuji TV reported.
One of the men, in his 70s, was found unconscious at the scene and later pronounced dead. Police say the other man sustained minor injuries while attempting to break up the fight, Fuji reported.
Yagisawa was arrested and charged with assault. A police spokesperson added that the charge will be changed to one of involuntary manslaughter.

@ Disillusioned "What is it with the senior citizens in Japan? Are they all nuts?" its sometimes hilarious how they can explode resulting in death and they know the keystones will usually come AFTERWARDS....

I'm glad I never had any "violent" roommates in the past. I've shared a few places with a few people who weren't all there before, but never any violent ones.

Old geezers? Living together in an apartment? They sound really, really hen dayo! Horsefella may be on to something, looser types, drunk all the time, making lots of noise, finally a neighbor who can not sleep goes bezerk and kills them?? Happens all the time, well up to the yelling and maybe a fist fight and in this case ended up killing some of these old, drunk noisy trouble makers, RIP?? Really, really doubt it.

I don't know because this article is too short on details, but I suspect these three were sharing a room in a cheap rental building because none of them could hold onto (or in the case of the 70-year-old, need) a job. Why? Could be the economy; could be a problem on their end. In any case, it seems sad that none of the three had a family willing or able to house them and support them. Sad way to end your life - beaten to death in a residence hotel.
