Man found bleeding from neck on Osaka street

OSAKA —

Police received a call on Wednesday evening reporting a man in his 50s was bleeding from the neck and had passed out on a street in Osaka’s Nishinari Ward. The unconscious man was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition, police said Thursday.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened at around 8 p.m. The victim had gotten into an argument with another man, and was stabbed in the neck. The suspect is reportedly in his 50s to 60s, and was wearing a blue shirt and light-colored trousers. He was reported to have been drinking with several other people.

    Hopefully after asking around, they'll figure out who this guy is and arrest him. Hope a full recovery for the stabbed dude. Good on the citizens for calling it in, likely they saved him from bleeding to death.

    To be honest - not sure I would be so keen to tackle a drunk 50-something Osu-san with a knife.

    You would have to be an idiot, to risk your own life and get between some drunken fools, one drunk with a knife, is all it takes to take your life away for trying to be a hero.

    I'm not so sure I would tackle anybody with a knife especially if it is obvious he's not afraid to use it. I agree, that's a good way to get killed yourself. The people did the right thing by calling it in, being witness and letting the police handle it.

    drunken fools are a bleedin' pain in the neck anytime of year but this is just awful.

    Also, it's not lawful to help someone during an attack in Japan. You could get in as much trouble as the assailant if you try.

    In America, that wouldn't fly.
