A 31-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of fatally stabbing three members of his family and seriously injuring another in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture.

According to police, at around 3 a.m., Hisakatsu Ikeya, 60, called 119, and said that his son, Yoshitaka, had stabbed four members of the family at their home in Kita Ward, Fuji TV reported. When police arrived at the scene, they found three women dead and Hisakatsu bleeding from his abdomen. The victims were Yoshitaka's mother, 62, his grandmother, 83, and his sister, 32. Hisakatsu, who contacted police, also suffered serious injuries, but his condition is not life-threatening, police said.

Police launched a search for Yoshitaka and managed to capture him approximately at around 7 a.m. He was found in front of a convenience store approximately four kilometers away from the crime scene. According to police, Yoshitaka had fled the scene on his car, which was later found crashed on a road within Kita Ward. He had left the car and ran away on foot, Fuji TV reported.

At present, no further details of the crime have been released.

Nothing much to go on, but this was one seriously ticked off dude. Most likely a NEET, and got tired of the family harping about it. Is there a temporary insanity plea here?

Let's not jump to conclusions just yet. lets just wait and see how the story plays out

The guy obviously snapped. Attacking his entire family is a good indicator they are the root of the break.

On a primal level people lash out at the thing/person that causes them anxiety/pain, even on a minor/sub-conscious level.

This is basic psychology, which is demonstrable in all mammals: dogs, bears, whales, etc... Mammals have feelings, and act on them. The degree of the action is what distinguishes 'civilized behavior'.

This man was pushed beyond his tolerable limit.

I can't see any conclusions, but I'm going to leap anyway.

Probably upset because he was told to find a job and look for a wife.

Think how the father must feel - he's survived a knife attack by his own son, yet will have to live the rest of his life without his mother (or mother in-law?), wife or daughter - and with his son locked up for life. Absolutely heartbreaking this.

How do you know it was neurotic child rearing? I don't see that in the story.

"Doesn't everyone know that neurotic child rearing has its consequences?"

They do now!! Imagine living with your sister for THIRTY ONE YEARS. What an incest-ridden, child-abusive cesspit it must have been. It makes me sick just to think about it...
