Police in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, have arrested a 24-year-old office worker on suspicion of stealing items of female junior high school students, including gym clothes and swimsuits.

Kiyohiko Monna is suspected of breaking into a residence where he stole 14 items of a student including gym clothes and bags, Fuji TV reported. When police searched Monna's residence, they found around 300 articles of girls' clothing and underwear.

Monna has admitted to the charge and told police that he likes children and children's clothing. He has also confessed to nearly 60 similar thefts, police said.

As I write this, here are the top 4 JT headlines in the crime section:

Man nabbed for stealing girls' gym clothes and swimsuits

Man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping 3-year-old girl

Man opens hole in apartment floor in bid to rape neighbor below

Man jailed for 6 1/2 years for abducting, confining 11-year-old girl

What is it about Japan and perversion, especially this pedophile predilection for young girls?

There is clearly a huge pedophile problem in japan, and it's scandalous that more isn't done to address it.

@Disillusioned, you we were right. Still the rest of today +Sat/Sun.

told police that he likes children and children’s clothing. He has also confessed to nearly 60 similar thefts

Heh. Another sicko who probably likes manga featuring sexual images of children.

"Monna has admitted to the charge and... has also confessed to... SIXTY similar thefts"

But of course he doesn't SELL THE ITEMS ON to other perverts at a huge profit because...

Japan is a law-abiding country with a low-crime rate!! :-)

Yup! Just like the energizer bunny. Just keeps going and going.

More of a creep along the lines of Radiohead's version, not TLC's version.

This guy needs to get a better job so he can buy his own JH kid's underwear.

National perv week? And still no offender register.

Did he get any bloomers? lol

These men (never heard of women doing it) are known as "snowdroppers" in Australia. They creep around at night stealing from clothes lines. It's a very common type of perversion--not only in japan!

Why steal 'em when he can pay for 'em, the girls or the clothes?!

This is another sicko's fail. Arrested for asking girl to sell him her panties. . . .is it something in the water? Sheesh-

If there was a offender register list, I wonder what would be the overlap between that and a list of manga / light novel writers?

According to the Okayama Municipal Environmental Department, Ono was made to compensate a female high school student in March 2012 after groping her, and was disciplined through a 6-month suspension from his job. The department stated: “We would like to offer our sincerest apologies that a member of staff has been arrested and has caused such trouble for all the residents of the city”.

Government work's nice if you can get it. 6-month suspension! vs immediate termination in private sector!

It would be better if he would have bought them.
