Yes, actually Keio Hachioji Station is quite far from JR Hachioji Station, no fun walking in the summer heat and humidity from one station to the other or in the middle of winter, but back to the topic, this fool who killed innocent people must get the DEATH PENALTY!!
I just love these nut jobs that kill people and then try the old "mentally incompetent" two-step when trying to avoid the noose. In such cases, I always feel sorry for the victims, what a waste of a human life. Then again, I don't hold much hope regarding the death penalty in this one. However, if this guy gets traction with the judge vis-a-vis being mentally incompetent, I hope the judge returns the favor and puts this chap in a padded cell for the term of his natural life. Just remember, you cannot have it both ways, if this guy is sane, then he deserves the rope, if he ain't, then he deserves the loony bin with his file stamped "Never to Be Released."
I remember this very well. They had the flowers on display outside the station for a long time. Anyway, at least the guy plead guilty. I don't know how much "weight" having your own defense team claim you have "intellectual disability" has. It doesn't mean he didn't know what he was doing was wrong (the standard for an insanity defense). I think it just means he was stuuuuuupid.
I remember this one. As I've have mentioned before that a person with intellectual disability shouldn't be walking around on the streets alone but supervised by someone. He could have such disability for long time and no one has noticed if he had any strange behavior. Lawmakers should put their money were their mouth is. They should take metal illness more serious, and shrinks should help out not just thinking of their consolation fees. Cars can be repaired so can the ‘marbles.’ Did he plead guilty for his crime or mental illness?
this is similar to the Guy that drove over 2 people & then went on a stabbing spree. Guns are not allowed in JP wich is a good thing But people sttill find ways to harm someone, at least its easyer to over Take a person with a knife. We hear of this kind of story to much in Japan.
Just like anywhere, people will claim a "mental Problem"
Used to live in Hachioji and one early morning a few years ago, my wife was attacked and held on the road outside Book Off (some drunk freak) just between the two stations. We moved to Kokubunji the next month. Also too many bosozoku for my liking.
I know a cure for his mental illness. A winner if he's mentally ill or just criminally negligent. It comes in lead form and is delivered to the head at high speed.

The article makes the distinction between Hachioji Station and Keio Hachioji Station, but the headline is misleading. A quibble, I know.

Shugotokumaru, I don't think JR Hachioji thinks it's a quibble. I'm sure they want to see "Keio" in the headline as well.

If "intellectually disabled" were a defense then in Japan no-one would be guilty.
Tahoochi at 07:46 PM JST - 12th February
Is "intellectually disabled" what we call "insanity"? I guess he's a nut job either way... lock him up, and keep him away from sharp objects

I don't get it like. Are they saying he is a mental or backwards? I think he should never be released, the wicked swine.

If he knws the difference between a pen and a knife then he is sane enough in my book to stand trial
sensei258 at 06:29 PM JST - 13th February
Remember, he hasn't "been ruled" anything yet. It's just his lawyers that said he was "whatever".
