He should have asked for "Supersize".

It seems his motorbike was more expensive than what he was able to get away with.

Probably could have found him at a nearby convenience store buying some better junk food.

This is what a cup of boiling fry oil could fix, especially if flung in his face.

Isn't the counter between the clerk and the customer pretty wide? Unless the clerk was held captive there's a pretty big gap between them that will enable the clerks to escape. Maybe they need to train their staff to deal with these situations.

n3312: staff is instructed not to play hero. Would you risk your life for a couple of yen? No... But it is sad that burglar wannabe can enjoy this sort of impunity.

Can't believe that their registers have so much money in them. Have that much money and I am surprised that they haven't been hit before. Expect many many more hits in the coming weeks and months.

Not familiar with that particular store, but if it's a busy store then they usually will have 4 registers active. Y98,000/4 = Y24,500 per drawer. I imagine the perp grabbed the clerk so they couldn't step back, or simply leapt the counter (it's not that hard to do). In any case, employees are NOT to be playing hero - especially over corporate money. (They have insurance for that kind of thing)

Should have made that safe drop, you never want more than about 10,000 yen in the drawer for this very reason.

He threatened someone on the other side of the counter with a knife - and got away with it??

I'd understand if he grabbed a customer on his side of the counter, but...?

Hey, do not forget this is Japan, where people cringe in fear of some fool with a butter knife, while back in the USA, if the criminal only has a knife, we are happy he does not have a gun or a machine gun, and we think how to smash the criminal over the head with a chair etc..Japanese live in this make believe fuzzy ANIME world. Maybe if Doreamon had been at MC Donalds??
