A man robbed a Nagoya McDonald's outlet of 2.6 million yen early Monday.

According to police, the man, dressed in black and wearing a black cap, came into the restaurant in Showa Ward at about 2:50 a.m. NTV reported that he threatened the 45-year-old employee behind the counter with a knife and demanded money. The employee called out for the store manager who opened the office safe.

There were two other employees in the store at the time but there were no injuries, police said.

Besides McDonalds in Japan, other small local restaurants carry alot of cash. They can become a target for easy money. Maybe it's a wakeup call for these small businesses to have secure timing locking system with a security camera for all cash that is deposited after hours. On this system, once the deposit is made, you cannot open it until certain hours the next day.

Wow those 100yen menus add up. Good thing nobody was hurt, most likely this guy will get caught soon, there is no reason to risk your well being for a little pile of cash.

Black clothing ....check, black cap.... check .... wait a minute, no mention of a mask. Perhaps the perp doesn't suffer from hay fever.

Nice haul.

They need to release video of the robbery.

Seriously if you are threatened with a knife at McDonald throw some hot cooking oil or coffee at the perp, bet they won't try that again not to mention their burns will make them easy to spot.

You know, there were 3 workers in a place full of make-shift weapons like fry oil, knives, fry pans, hot coffee, or heck, even a french fries basket.

"According to police, the man, dressed in black and wearing a black cap" He should have worn all light yellow or white or light gray to fit in better with the outside crowd ...

Matthew Simon, when threatened with a knife you'd suddenly become a hero would you? I very much doubt it, you've seen too many Hollywood movies my friend.

Very sad and yet ridiculous. It is hard out here to make money in both U.S. and Japan, but crime does not pay.

would you risk your life for mcdonalds? i think not. the employees did the right thing.

@rickyvee - Agreed. Minimum wage don't cover getting stabbed defending the company's money.

@Matthew Simon - Most people are not combat vets and would not have a clue how to defend themselves against a knife attack.

exactly, not defending mcD in any way just so you can be employee of the month

Lots of young women work at McDonald's . Nothing said about that point. Guys might confront that robber but I doubt a woman would.

there was a counter between the attacker and the employee . i guess the attacker must have held the employee with the free hand and the knife in the other.

Could have offered him a free meal while calling the cops?

When your working at McDonalds, I doubt you would be willing to risk your life to defend the store's money, unless you are the owner of the Franchise

The workers did the right thing. Just give them the cash, insurance company pays back the loss, and police go after the criminal

I would only fight back if I KNEW the guy was going to hurt someone for sure, even after you gave him the money
