Man robs video rental store with firework
TOKYO —
Police said Friday that a man robbed a video rental store in suburban Tokyo’s Hoya district on Thursday by threatening the store owner with a firework.
According to Sankei Shimbun, the man entered the store at around 8 p.m. and lit a handheld firework, which he held in one hand while brandishing a knife in the other. He then demanded the 58-year-old store owner hand over cash from the register. Police said the store owner handed over a 5,000 yen bill, which the man took before leaving the store taking the firework with him.
The man is described as being around 160 cm in height, wearing a white surgical mask and a gray parka jacket with the hood up.

if and when caught he will be found no more than 155cm...and age? no idea, how to catch him? difficult because he was wearing white surgical mask. shop owner should assume he paid (Y5,000) for fireworks...file closed.

I suspect that's what went through the shop owners mind. I doubt ALL he had in the till was a 5,000 note. He probably thought it would be enough to get rid of the nutjob.
That's a lot of trouble to go through to get yourself a couple of bentos and a bottle of whiskey.

I have seen videos of guys using a pitch-fork, tree-branch and similar(most were not from Japan).
Don't think it is worth(too expensive) to look for him for a 5.000Yen crime.

Only ¥5,000? If your going to rob a place do it at a place with a bit more money. Also this is creative, I have never seen a robbery with a firework before.
