Man stabbed to death in Tokyo apartment
TOKYO —
Police said Monday that a 74-year-old man who was discovered dead in his Tokyo apartment Monday morning may have been murdered in his sleep.
Shinji Igarashi was found in his Minami-Aoyama apartment, stabbed several times in the neck with what appears to be a knife. No signs of a struggle were found on the body during police investigations. Igarashi was discovered in his pajamas.

Is there a murder spikage in Tokyo? I mean it wouldn't surprise me, but I wouldn't know because I don't think JT posts every single murder that happens like the local city media does in the States. They also rarely report any news about statistics. The other day there was an article that reported about 1200+ murders in all of Japan in 2008, so I'm sure a good at least 10% might have been within the 23 Special Wards of Tokyo.

People get more ruthless in a society with less money. He mighta made a noise if he woke up, so i guessed they killed him quickly to have one less civilian to worry about..
Stabbed in the neck is better than beaten to death with a blunt object anyday.

Except stabbings make Japanese society more and more anti-knife paranoid and the knife law keeps getting stricter and stricter. Pretty soon you'll get arrested for carrying toenail clippers.

there should be many more details on this story. the poor fellow probably suffered inmensely. Getting hit with a blunt object would knock you unconscious immediately, but bleeding from the neck takes a few minutes. rip
