OKAYAMA —

A 55-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stabbing his 27-year-old son to death at their house in Asakuchi City, Okayama Prefecture. Tatsuo Fujii was arrested immediately by police for killing his son Hiroyuki with a knife around 4:30 p.m.

According to what police have learned, the victim suddenly got angry and attacked his father with a knife when he entered his room without notice. Fujii struggled with his son, stabbing him in the neck during the fight.

IchyaParadise, the article says the son lived with his parents. Apparently, the son was not married.

Another father-son stabbing. Wasn't it just last week that it was a Mother-son stabbing? Just what was the son doing in his room that seems to be what set this whole thing off. To bad news media won't tell us what it was.

It sad that such a vicious fight occured between father and son. There must have been something that made one of them snap. In the end however, if anyone attacted me I would try to defend myself the best I could. So yeah if the story holds true it came down to self defense. Let him go.

this is according to the father with no witnesses. I would like to know what kind of knife it is. If its the kind of knife that a 27 year would buy or a kitchen knife. If its a kitchen knife we could aso assume that the father entered the room with the knife and a fight broke out. why is this detail curiously omitted?

Hard to say what happened. Perhaps someone could shed some light on what was going on (such as the mother). There are so many cases of kids attacking their parents and vice versa nowadays. I just saw a Mother and daughter beating the crap out of each other at Nishi-Kasai station the other day. They were shoving eachother into walls and photo booths and hitting each other with handbags and umbrellas. Lots of people were trying to break the two apart, but they just kept going at each other.

don't understand - father called the police or someone else did it?

  • serindipity at 08:52 PM JST - 8th September

This is fishy! No witnesses and only the father's story of self defense. Unfortunately, with recent news of all the oldies going nuts I'm inclined to doubt this one too. A sad day for the family, either way.

This whole living with parent tradition in Japan needs to end. There is far too much frustration build up that can lead to things like this. No free space or total alone time. In addition, the education system needs to provide an avenue for those who do not pass college entrance exams with flying colors. They need to bring in community colleges or something. Of course many will get lazy and lack motivation or drive when such a system exists that pounds into you at an early age that if you do nto pass these exams you are worhtless.

I actually believe the man. Young adults are real ahs in today's world.

Have you read the Japanese novel, "Diary (or Confessions) of an Angry Old Man"?

Maybe this old guy got tired of waiting on his son to bring home a sexy young wife. That's enough to cause some people to snap.

"Fujii lives with his wife and victim." Is the dead body still in the house?

  • IchyaParadise at 01:37 PM JST - 9th September

    Azrael, I stand corrected.
