Man stabs his wife to death, then tries to kill himself

Police in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, said a 69-year-old man apparently stabbed his 67-year-old wife to death at their home on Tuesday and then tried to kill himself.

According to police, the couple's 31-year-old son found his mother's body when he visited their house at around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday and called police, Fuji TV reported. When police arrived, they found Yasuko Nakagawa lying dead on a futon in the living room. She had been stabbed in the neck.

The woman's husband was lying nearby, also with a stab wound. Police said he told his son he had killed his wife and then tried to commit suicide.

Police said they will wait for the man to recover before charging him with murder.

As I have said time and again when this happens, if you absolutely can find no way out but to kill yourself, please do NOT take others with you!! Man or woman, mother or father, brother or sister... leave others out of it! Let him recover, then let him experience the hell that awaits him in prison, same as I would say for any woman who does the same.

The same repeating scenario with just different names and places. Japan is a relatively safe country, until you go home.

Japan is a safe country, even when you are home.

I'd have to know where he stabbed himself and how seriously before I'd classify it as a suicide attempt. Usually people who try to commit suicide are successful. I suspect he wasn't trying to kill himself, but was preparing his defense by showing his "strong regret". How about an update on the seriousness his wound JT.

"69-year-old man... 67-year-old wife...31-year-old son"

So she had the child when she was 36... And they stayed together all this time... And then THIS happens? :-(

@Strangerland - "Japan is a safe country, even when you are home"

Every Japanese person knows that is just not true... especially the ones who leave the country!!

You are right because a few family murders obviously represent the mind state of the entire population.

He botched his suicide? See how embarrassing that is!

If you are planning a murder/ suicide, you really need to get that suicide part right. So always start with the suicide first!

A few family murders? Is two or three every week for the past 15 years a few? Really?

Did the poor old dear forget to make his dinner? Stupid domestic issues seems to spark these murder/suicides off from what I can see. Son or husband throws a wobbly and before you know it you have a murder case on your hands. Is there something in the psyche of Japanese men that turns some of them into a**holes?
