Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly sending an email to a woman in her 30s containing photos of her shoes and underwear which he had stolen, together with the caption: “I’ve just snatched your treasures.”

Further investigation is also hinting that the suspect, Shochi Nagata, was in the possession of a veritable bounty of other women’s “treasures” as well.

The incident which led to Nagata’s arrest began in August of 2014 when a middle-aged woman caught his eye at a convenience store in Taito Ward, Tokyo. After following her home, he allegedly sneaked in and rifled through her belongings.

After returning to his own home, he sent the woman the fateful email containing his “I’ve just snatched your treasures” message using an email address which he had found on some documents in her room.

According to the police, several other items including pairs of women’s shoes, clothes and underwear were found at a location connected to the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.

Readers of the news naturally had a lot to say, such as:

“How gentlemanly of him to notify the victim.” “He’s like Arsène Lupin of deviants.” “At least he’ll be ranked highly among perverts.” “What was this guy’s end game? Did he just want to smell them?” “The report said he’s unemployed, but I think it should say his job is ‘God of the Perverts.'” “If you’re going to risk your freedom stealing something, might as well make it shoes and underwear.”

I don't know what is worse. This story or some of those reader's comments . . .

“If you’re going to risk your freedom stealing something, might as well make it shoes and underwear.” Enough said there-

No matter how long I live here, the nuts will always find a way to raise my brows...

Joke is on them really; Underwear isn't nearly as big a deal as they think it is...especially after you get relegated to underwear folding duty :(

Question for the writer of the article: Since when is a "woman in her 30s" (or a man) considered to be "middle-aged"?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

What is it with 'many' Japanese men and this fascination with stealing women's underwear and clothing? It's boarderline insanity and there are so many of these cases it makes one wonder about the mental stability of these sick little men.

@Mu Staff: The sad truth, we humans want to keep pushing back the line of where young and old are. Well and good, but the average human lives to be about 70...therefore, 35ish is technically middle aged.

seems a mentally disturb poor guy, please investigate the reason behind his work.

This reminds me of my best friend's (now ex) husbands mistress - who stole her son's pajamas when she was in the apartment and then mailed her pictures of them to "prove" she had been there (I'm guessing?) Creepy beyond belief.

I blame the mothers of Japan who teach their boys girly ways instead of toughening the boys up they treat them as little girls and leave the girls to fend for themselves who become so naive to any nutters advances

Women in their 30's are now considered "middle-age"?

And the nutter of the day award goes to....... Oh hold on its only 2.40pm.

What is it with 'many' Japanese men and this fascination with stealing women's underwear and clothing?

a few news articles a year and this constitutes "many" japanese men? even if this were reported every day, it would still constiute less than 0.0000001% of the male population.

and insanity implies that these men don't know what they are doing is wrong; hence, the insanity plea. these men are full aware of it. these men have a fetish.

put him inside a ladies prison, plenty of panties to steel in their, .......I don't think he will last long my self, I think that the urge will soon disappear.

Women in their 30's are now considered "middle-age"?

Not really! Women in their thirties are considered D & D! Desperate and dateless!

Question for the writer of the article: Since when is a "woman in her 30s" (or a man) considered to be "middle-aged"?

Well the writer is probably a young teenager so.....

Is this some kind of new mating ritual?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Descended Always have been. Once the youth and beauty are gone, there is little left unless they've spent their youth working up the ladder... in which case no one notices anyway.

@Ali If we were playing chess, I'm sure you'd be white, cause no one white knights like you do.

On this topic, hes an idiot for essentially signing his own arrest warrant, but deserves to be in the nut house. Taking panties off of women is much more gratifying than taking them out of drawers or off of clotheslines. (Do not interpret that as a "forced taking" either)

And how did he get her email address? Must be somebody she knows.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

And how did he get her email address?

From the article:

After returning to his own home, he sent the woman the fateful email containing his “I’ve just snatched your treasures” message using an email address which he had found on some documents in her room.

Lolz... am beginning to wonder if Japan is really a HENTAI country every time I read news like this. Wondering what causes these for Japanese to be hentai. Is it the environment? the way they were raised? Pressure? etc.... I know it also happen in every countries but never reported as news. Hehehehe..

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Weirdo of the highest order... still, at least he never sent her a photo of him wearing said treasures...

Mu Staff: J men consider any woman over the hill once they turn 30. They say awful things about such women.

There is a large cluster of stunning women, very well educated, bi lingual and from good backgrounds in the trendy areas of Tokyo who just go out by themselves (Hitari) or spend a weekend at a nice hotel with 2 friends at a posh hotel on a (kawa-nodgi) 3 in a room deal to enjoy themselves.

Then when they get home they have to worry about drying their knickers on the balcony.

using an email address which he had found on some documents in her room.

But what the article does not explain is who said this. I can hear the victim now "He must have found my email address while he was going through my stuff" or the police (to save her the embarrassment) "Maybe he found your email address in your apartment" or the perp "Good thing she gave me her email address before she found out I was a pervert".

Woah, talk about over generalizations and stereotyping here.....this is not true for ALL Japanese men and, from my experience, it's the J-Men (as you call them) who are over 50 and single, that call them over the hill.

Call it jealousy on their part, because they know they are never gonna get any from them!

Underwear isn't nearly as big a deal as they think it is...especially after you get relegated to underwear folding duty

My sympathies.

put him inside a ladies prison

And give him the task of cleaning, ironing and folding their underwear. It'll either cure him or keep him happy.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

At least he’ll be ranked highly among perverts.

Lol. Yes, he will.

Oh, boy...Why am I consistently waking up to headlines like this?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Oh I just love such headlines, it's Japan to the T, such unique news, only in Japan.

I remember a equally bizarre news of a guy in Japan who stole a blowup sex doll, blown it up using his mouth, used it, stabbed it and made a run for it. All that in some back alley of Tokyo. I think he was simulating a rape scene. You got to love it... Only in Japan.
