Police in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, are looking for a man who tried to rob a convenience store on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the man entered the Save On convenience store at around 12:30 a.m. and threatened the 60-year-old male employee with a knife, demanding money, Livedoor News reported.

The store employee asked the man to wait a minute and continued stalling, at which point, the would-be robber fled.

There were no customers in the store at the time, police said, adding that the employee was not injured.

The suspect is in his 20s, about 180 cms tall and was wearing a white face mask and sunglasses.

It doesn't unless a gun is involved. Agenda anyone? Though to your point we have far to many here in the U.S.

What is also interesting is the would be robber didn't have the brash attitude. He was nervous and fled empty handed. Here, they would wait and make a sandwich and drink a beverage.

No, not national. Local news.

Chances were that the would-be robber feared he would fall into the employee's trap and get busted after all. I think he should not have committed the holdup from the beginning.

The man in his 20s produced a knife and threaten the shop owner.....

I doubt it was poverty, 'if it was he would have shop lifted, (stolen food etc)' its obvious that the suspect is someone local, he known that the shop owner was in his 60s, furthermore I believe he probably worked part-time in the store before, he certainly known what time the shop is less busy. It may have been a grudge against the shop owner.

He was after money, could it have been drug addiction or debt that drove him to contemplate such crime to begin with? I am glad that the incident ended with nobody injured.

Need the cash? There is no "easy root" Get a part time job as a shop assistance, handing out leaflets or pocket tissues, it would look good on your C.V and its good skills that would help in later life, I did so at the age of 18 (McDonald fast food outlet) and later Game UK Game Shop, I gained customer interpersonal skills. I was able to buy all the video games I needed.
