He didn't plan his caper really well.
I would have had an escape plan. At least buy plane tickets first than steal the money. Maybe he should have asked his assistant if he wanted in on the deal.
well rather than being a criminal mastermind who stuck a big middle finger up at the establishment and fled to his retirement, he appears to be some random idiot who on a whim though he could clear a few debts but had escape plan rather than to blow a few bucks in neighboring prefectures.
At age 66yrs.& old didn't the robber also mess up his retirement plans & pension income? I don't condone his robbery/criminal act but it seems it was a spur of the moment decision act & not a thought out preplanned scheme.

It's not even that much money. The guy must have been in desperate straits and realized he wouldn't get away with it. Stupid.

At the current exchange rate that's about US$800,000, not bad for an old dude.
Don't know about you bob91343, but that's more pocket change than most people have.

If it's not that much money why does the headline read ¥72 million?
