Man withdrew money from account of murdered woman, police say
Police have released further details in the case of 34-year-old Kumi Arai, who was stabbed to death at her Itabashi apartment home in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Arai was discovered by her husband who told police he arrived home at around 10:50 p.m. to find the front door unlocked and his wife dead on the floor, Fuji TV reported. He also reportedly told officers that the apartment cupboards were in disarray when he arrived home, leading police to suspect Arai was stabbed by a man attempting to rob their home.
Police have since discovered that an unidentified man withdrew over 200,000 yen from her bank account using a convenience store ATM near her home in Toshim Ward. The man was caught on the ATM security camera, but had disguised his appearance by wearing a white face mask, glasses, a gray woollen hat, a black sweater and a blue scarf.
