Police in Tsuchiura City, Ibaraki Prefecture, have arrested a 47-year-old ryokan manager for killing her husband.
According to police, Etsuko Hirano allegedly killed her husband Masaru at around 4:15 a.m. Sunday in her office, by stabbing him several times in the chest and head with a kitchen knife.
Fuji TV reported that at the time of the incident, the couple's two young daughters, one a junior high school student, and the second, an elementary school student, were both on the premises. Hirano was found covered in blood by her eldest daughter who phoned the police.
Police quoted Hirano as saying that her husband had come home raging drunk and violently hit her.

"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned," Bet she'll get a suspended sentence because she has two daughters to care for.

I wonder if there any abuse complaints filed with the police? If so, there may be more to the story than what was printed.

"Police quoted Hirano as saying that her husband had come home raging drunk and violently hit her. "
An easy claim to make when the accused is no longer alive to refute it.

If there is truth in the claim, his body will still be drunk at the post-mortem and she has fresh bruises.
Weird place to spend the night... and keep a knife.

Usually the owner or manager of a Ryokan will live on site with the reception/office being at front of house.

And yet, rather than calling the authorities after "defending" herself, she did nothing and let her middle-school aged daughter find the body and call the police. Someone who just defended themselves by stabbing the assailant usually wants to get the police there ASAP. But not this lady. She's behaving abnormally.

What is considered normal behavior for someone who has just murdered their spouse and is prrobably in a state of extreme shock a a result?
