Man's head found in bag in Kanagawa vacant lot

KANAGAWA —

Police said Sunday that a man’s head was found in a bag in a vacant lot beside a bus parking space in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

According to TBS, the grisly discovery was made just after 8:30 a.m. by a bus company employee who had come to mow the grass in the bus parking space. He called police to report a foul odor coming from the bag, TBS reported. The head was wrapped in plastic inside the bag.

Police said the head appeared to have been severed by a blade, TBS reported. The head had short cropped black hair, police said.

It's really not a piece of news I'd like to read at this time of the day....and on my off day...

Article fails to mention that it was a Marie Antoinette handbag, the newest French luxury brand. (Do you think any self-respecting Japanese decapitator would settle for anything less?)

Readers, please do not post tasteless remarks on this thread.

Having short cropped black hair should narrow down the identification process.

The actual bag was a white vinyl bag in a tote bag.

Can they not get dental records, or is it just too early or no dental records? Oh and this is obviously murder if someone took the time to carefully wrap the head in plastic before putting it into a bag. Guess we'll be hearing about the rest of the body later.

I was waiting for the mandatory statement that the police "suspects foul play". Do they not this time?

tamanegi: No kidding! I'm just on my way out the door to kick a soccer ball around with my nephew. Now I've got this image stuck in my head!

Anyway, it's unlikely they'll figure out whom the head belongs to unless they get a match on dental records. And do they even keep a general data base for that kind of thing? But then you never know, a body might turn up without a head. Methinks if there's a foul smell coming from the bag then it's been there for a while.

Thanks for the link Crazy Joe. Seems a slightly strange place to put a head in what looks like quite a residential area, unless whoever left it there just stopped off at the end of the road and booted the head down the lane.

I think only 2 kinds of people in this world. Those that follow a divine clean path and do good things, would never think of something like this and those that follow the path of the devil. For those that follow the path of the devil, this kind of stuff i guess comes second nature.

Yes there are many many sickos ALL AROUND US. I'm off to invent the sicko detector

Just watched the link from CrazyJoe - am I the only person who finds it unfortunate that they interviewed that guy by showing him from the neck down?

Good on the bus company employee for reporting the crime.

The head was apparently severed by a blade, so probably death came very fast.

yes this looks like the work of the Yakuza, but i don't see why people are making jokes about.

Can it be harakiri followed by decapitation like The Last Samurai?

Janetto: I think they interviewed him that way so that he wouldn't be identified on tv and possibly hunted down by the killer and murdered too. Or he possibly asked to be anonymous.

Wow, this is awful news. It seems that severed heads are becoming a somewhat common find. It makes me a little scared to go out at night. Certainly too scared to go anywhere shady.
