Previously, I had mentioned this girl as being 16. I stand corrected, this 38 year old creep (who cares if he's Marine or military, a sick creep is a sick creep) confessed to forcing this girl down and trying to kiss her. A conduct unbecoming anyone, especially a Marine if you want to look at it that way. Inexcusable conduct, and anyone that even remotely tries to excuse this incident, in any shape or form, is plain wrong. No person here would tolerate a 38 year old male forcing himself on their 14 year old daughter, they would scream for his head in that case.

A general court-martial handles serious crimes, such as murder and rape. It can sentence a defendant to death or life imprisonment.
There are two other levels of courts-martial. Summary courts-martial can confine a defendant for up to 30 days, while special courts- martial can confine defendants for up to a year.
The Uniform Code of Military Justice requires the holding of a preliminary inquiry to decide whether a general court-martial should be convened.
Hadnott has given up the right to call for a preliminary inquiry, paving the way for the commanding general to file charges against him in a general court-martial, according to the Marine Corps.
Now that Hadnott has abandoned the right for a preliminary inquiry, he can strike a plea bargain with U.S. military authorities for a reduced sentence, legal experts said.

This guy is toast.

I guess that depends on what you mean by toast. It certainly doesn't mean a life sentence or even a long one. I seem to remember the soldiers who stalked, raped and murdered a 14-year-old girl and executed her family, mostly got sentences of 10 years to life. Not one death sentence (unless the ringleader, Green, was finally tried and got one).
In light of that, this guy, scumbag predator of a child or not, will probably just get a dishonorable discharge. Someone with a military background could probably take a good guess at the likely punishment.

There is *no "alleged rape." The allegation was *withdrawn. A retraced allegation, an allegation one has no way to refute, does not make for an "alleged rape."
He seems guilty of the other charges, but the alleged rape sounds like blulshlit.

As far as the punishment for this, well, no life or death sentence. What will happen, is they will go to courts-martial and he'll get a reduced sentence, maybe 5 years if the defense lawyer is good.
Article 120 won't stick. The burden of proof will be on prosecution, and they will not have access to the victim. So that would get tossed out. Now, they will throw 134 at him, which is the article that covers anything not defined. The adultery portion will stick, as he is still legally married.
The big one is the victim being 14. That opens up the case to aggravated assault, improper contact with a child under the age of 18 (which is the military age of consent).
Yeah, 5 to 10 years...... About right.

What I praise the JN Media for is REPORTING THIS LATEST NEWS....yea!!!!. Why? Because all those Okinawains and America-bashers protesting in Naha and in the news that the guy got off! That the Marines would just send him home without punishment. SEE you were wrong. Shame on all those who preached about how the US Mil covers up their servicemembers crimes. All of us said NOPE not gonna happen that way! The Mil will throw the hammer down on this guy... Guess what...they did.. and again I say shame on all of you for thinking that way. And a big shame on the the womens group in Okinawa who let so many act of violence against Japanese women go unnoticed or non-protested against yet made such a big deal out of this one when in fact justice will get served as we said it would. Oh and again shame on all of you.......
