Miniskirt Police singer nabs groping suspect on train

TOKYO —

Yukiko Hachisuka, 23, a pin-up girl and member of the pop group Minisuka Police (short for Miniskirt Police), grabbed a man whom she says sexually molested her on a train, police said Tuesday.

According to police, Hachisuka had gotten on the Odakyu line at Shimokitazawa station after work last Friday. She told police she felt herself being groped around her rear end for 10 minutes. Just before arriving at Mukogaokayuen station, Hachisuka grabbed the groper’s wrist and held onto him until the train pulled in to the next station where she handed him over to the station staff.

Police said the suspect, identified as Yoshiyuki Tamura, 43, has admitted to the charge. He was quoted as saying, “Initially, the back of my hand just touched her rear end, but I guess I got a little too excited.”

kinniku; Authorities have done very little in the past decade. They really need to install security cameras on these trains. There should be a signature petition from the riders and present to Mayor or Director of Transportation addressing the concerns. Poster does not solve problem because everybody's aware of this already.

No offense to anyone actually a victim of assault or groping on a train but this news article sounds kind of like a publicity stunt. I mean comon Minisuka Police...

"Just the idea, other protection that might be possible is that for individual that has constant fear in a train of groping, can somebody invent something that they can wear, possibly a small plastic plate with belt (accordion or fan type) inside or outside their skirts or pants. Make it small enough and easy to change that can fit into handbag."

Utterly disgusting! Yet another excuse to blame the woman if she doesn't have said plastic plate and wasn't riding the women only car. Can't possibly be the man's fault, and can't be proven that it was. I agree with cameras, but beyond that, you're asking that women be responsible for the actions of sick men who cannot control themselves

You're probably just joking around, but do you mean "the action part (the groping) is illegal, but the reaction part (the citizen's arrest) is perfectly legal"?

Interesting discussion on both sides! I live in Fukuoka so the trains aren't crowded like they are in Tokyo. Never been groped nor have I seen anyone else being groped, but then I'm rarely on a train that is so crowded that would make the crime easily committed.

I find it laughable that she would continue doing this minisuka pori thing. This police thing degrades women and invites molesters. While she was a victim in this, I would find her to be very hypocritical if she were to continue doing this smut in public.

It doesn't matter what she does or what she was wearing, she has the right to ride the train without being groped.

No matter where you go, there's always gonna be the image of sexy women, after all, sex sells, but just because you see it on T.V. doesn't means that all women should be treated as sex objects. The man is guilty no matter what spin you want to put on it, and to blame the young lady because of her job is ridiculous.

As for why it took 10 minutes, the train could have been crowded and she couldn't be sure if he was touching her or not, once the crowd thinned out and he was still touching her, she realized what was going on and stopped him.

Pukey, look at it this way. When you are standing on a train, who is in control of your body? You or someone else? If an attractive person is standing next to you and you both accidently bump into each other due to the train stopping, who is still in control of your body? No matter what way you look at it, you're the one that makes concious choices with how and where your hand moves afterwards.

She could be a porn star for all I care, and I still wouldn't start feeling her up even if she was in a mini skirt etc. People need to remember, "You are responsible for YOU" can't blame others for your actions unless there is mutual consent.

I'm probably as horny as the next guy, but making the jump from looking or even brushing accidently to actually groping is just shows a total lack of control. And let's fact it, how hard is it to control yourself in such a situation? Men who grope are like children with no common sense. Grow up!
