Mito woman found dead in home by daughter

A 73-year-old woman was discovered dead in her home in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Thursday, police said Friday. According to investigators, at around 8 a.m. on Thursday, Haru Kimura’s daughter went to visit the home where her mother lived alone, and found her dead.
According to police, Kimura was sitting under the kotatsu in her living room. She had no external injuries, but autopsy results showed she died of suffocation. The room showed no signs of struggle and the door to the home was shut but unlocked. Police believe Kimura may have been murdered.
