IBARAKI —
Police on Monday arrested a 38-year-old woman for stabbing her two daughters, 9 and 3, with a fruit knife at their home in Ryugasaki City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The daughters suffered minor injuries to their chest and stomach, police said.
The mother, who is unnamed because police believe she may be mentally ill, was arrested for allegedly stabbing her daughters on the first floor of their house around 7 a.m. Her husband, who was sleeping on the second floor, was awakened by her shouting and the cries of the girls, and he called an ambulance, police said.
The husband told police that his wife has been stressed out by her child-rearing duties recently.

Perhaps Japan opened its physical border in 1850 but they need to open their consciousness border now that their women are equal even in certain instances higher than mans authority.

It seems that many Japanese mothers cannot raise a kid, because it is to stressfull, sent those mothers to third world countries where they have 11 children and no electrical appliances to do all the houswork (just like my grandmother did)

I disagree that "Women in general are second class citizens in Japan." I think that they are only seen as second class citizens outside of the home, but the home is seen as the larger part of society. Society outside the home is secondary to the home, which it functions to support. It is in the home where women hold sway. All this responsibility leads to some destructive behaviour, especially by Japanese women within the home.
I think that violence among family memembers is much lower in Japan that the US or UK, and there is more violence between men in male-centered Western societies in general.

Sure she is mentally ill, and that is no excuse to publish her name. It is public rights to know who she is. Even a photograph should be inserted. She committed the crime, and that is solid as gold. If she is mentally ill, what was she doing at home with children? She should be in metal institution. I think law in Japan need some changes.

She might be mentally ill eh? Well I would never have concluded that. Of course she's got a screw loose to attack her own kids.

Spidey: If that's true of the people you know please meet some new people. Japanese families can be as loving or as cold or as crazy as anywhere else in the world.

ALHQQ - Thats exactly what I thought as well. What the hell, why didn't the father help out then if he knew his wife was stressed out? Marriage is 2 people, not 1, a father and a mother, and if one isn't involved with the kids, they're failing as a parent.
