Mother charged over fatal abuse of 3-year-old son in Ibaraki

Police in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, have charged a 32-year-old woman with fatally abusing her three-year-old son last month.

Initially, police arrested Mitsue Abe with abandoning the body of her son Rio after his body was found in his family's apartment, Sankei Shimbun reported. An autopsy showed that the cause of the boy's death was acute subdural hematoma.

Abe is suspected of kicking Rio's stomach multiple times, causing him to hit his head against the sink cabinet.

Abe has admitted to the charges and was quoted by police as saying that she punished her son because he did not listen to her.

Police said there were six people living in the residence -- Abe, her two daughters aged 14 and 11, and Rio and two brothers aged 7 and 2.

Rio's body was found on Sept 9 after a staff member at a junior high school in Mito called police to report that Rio's sister, who is in the third grade, did not come to school. When police went to the apartment, they found Rio's body wrapped in a blanket.

Abe and three of her children were found walking along a highway in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, at around 11 a.m. on Sept 10. The 2-year-old boy had been dropped off at a facility.

A MOMSTER!

Another whacked-out mom. . . . oh let me guess- this what the mother believed.

According to Japanese logic, the mother cannot bear to leave the child to survive alone; she would rather kill the child because she believes that nobody else in the world would take care of the child better than she, and that the child would be better off dying

It's total nonsense. It's sad to read about how so many kids get the shaft here. I though this is a good society?

"Abe has admitted to the charges and was quoted by police as saying that she punished her son because he did not listen to her. "

So, now, are people STILL going to jump on here and defend this monster because it's a woman, and despite her only reason for murdering the boy as being "She was tired of dealing with him"? M3M3M3? Strangerland?

Why would I defend her, when I've never defended any of these people?

@smithinjapan

Do you seriously not draw any distinction between a bad mother who beats and abuses her kids over years, and one who inexplicably kills her kids in a murder suicide without much warning?

"she punished her son because he did not listen to her..."

It's a mother's right (and obligation) to discipline her child. Welcome to Japan everyone!!! :-D

For punishment my kids get sent to the naughty corner. It works. Punching, kicking is abuse whether she intended to kill or not..

Arrested and charged don't mean a d@ng thing if the judge gives her a suspended sentence.

Thats right folks. She will get a suspended sentence. If she kills the child again she may??? get a few months. Disgusting and pathetic. No excuse for killing a child.
