ONLY SIX YEARS?!?!

Wow...well, all I ever get from reading these articles is that if I had the luxury of being Japanese in Japan I could away with murder with just a "slap on the wrist".

All she gets is 6, he gets 3.6; man the courts need to set some harsher punishments for parents like this. Sick to keep hearing about things like this all over the world, but in most cases the parents get way more time.....what they figure the mom had her so she should only get close to the amount of yrs her poor daughter suffered. I say treat her the same way, punishment for the crime. As for the Bf, smack his @$$ around and put him away in a prison where men don't like guys who abuse children.

If this was vicious crime, as judge said, why she only got four years? Shouldn't she get life? What did her boyfriend get? In fact her boyfriend should also get life. They should be locked in the cave until they rot.

Japanese prison is not a place where you watch TV all day, check out books from the library, or do water colors in your cell. They actually make you work, and the rules are harsh. When you get out, you will be as straight laced as a soldier.

Six years and 3.6 seems about right as these scumbuckets were probably too stupid to understand their abuse could result in death. It seems they had no intent to kill, but their cruelty is what what earned them the jail time.

am not surprised cos japanese women can not take care of their children.interestingly they pamper pets.they see child rearing as so difficult ,thats why they aint giving birth anymore.God save them.i think she deserves to be flown to Guantanamo

Such A Tragedy! I'm curious: Where were other family members, friends, or neighbors who could have intervened on the young child's behalf & called in the proper authorities sooner?

As usual, sick Japanese judges representing a sick system; no wonder there are no serious penalties for sick crimes. Mothers who kill their babies in Japan often get little more than a slap on the wrist, compared with other more civilized nations. The woman should get at LEAST ten, and possibly up to 25 years. As it is, with good behaviour she could easily be out of prison by 30 years of age, ready to have another kid to abuse and murder.

‘‘It was a vicious crime and disdain for human life.’’ Yes, and so much worse, as it came from her "loving" mother. Sick, sick, sick - what kind of society would allow such an obscene sentence? Japan has a long way to go to join the world civilization.
