Can Japan Today publish details of the investigations for the most defective models to benefit global consumers where Japan exports large numbers of vehicles especially USED ones.

a systematic hiding of defects for decades

Not the first Japanese company to do this and unfortunately not the last.

Mitsubishi’s defect cover-up stunned Japanese because it had been so systematic and it came from such a high-profile company.

I believe their TVs exploded, too. With consumer rights and liability laws, perhaps the stunned Japanese will become aware that even high-profile companies are in it for the money, not our well-being.

I recall my father's old Mitsubishi station wagon being an absolute lemon. He had to replace the engine three times. Cost more than itself in different repairs.

Don't tell me please about ' Mitsubishi' cars, please don't even mention them. I use to have four different models and what a garbage I've to put up with. Since I've Toyota I'm very happy and wouldn't change it for another car. Cars are the same as buildings, if they use poor materials than you will buy a big 'S**T.' People making such cars should be punished with heavy sentence, after all if people didn't buy cars than they the owners manufacturers will not be rich.

"Mitsubishi’s defect cover-up stunned Japanese because it had been so systematic and it came from such a high-profile company."

"Stunned" but still not ballsy enough to drag Toyota into court over the same issues ! Go ahead and check the last half-dozen recalls by that company, products created as far back as 7-8 years ago. Where is the outrage and condemnation ? Nary a word as the big T brag on and on about trying to be the worlds largest auto maker. Shameful.

Investigations found that employees had been stashing away consumer reports in a company locker, keeping a two-tier record of driver complaints for decades.
