    Rather interesting article this one. It asks the question as to whether or not judges under the new system would have the stones to send somebody to the gallows. This is a very interesting question if you think about the number of people (in government sponsored surveys) who have been openly antagonistic regarding their own participation in these "new style" legal arrangments.

    The Japanese justice system is bad, but not nearly that bad. As for the number of people w/ life sentences, wow, that's a tiny fraction of the US'

    Even a murderer can get it right once in a while.
