Yea right. He's only sorry for himself. Why couldn't he do it the right way like other Jp people and jump or hang himself and not kill innocent people?
seems to me, lately, that people in japan (like other places in the world today) want to take as many people with them as possible. a lot of them chicken out, though. what is that all about? i think they get tired of taking care of themselves and want some sort of regimented life so they think prison will do it for them. sick.
He should commit suicide, this way a lot of money will be saved to judiciary system. Wouldn't he be better to commit suicide instead to kill so many people? I wonder what his sentence will be in the 'Court of Law?'
I don't he has mental problem but grid for money.
Root cause financial hardships combined with family separation, debts and mental disorders resulting in reckless action - summary of NHK news broadcasts so far.
It's very hard to believe that he intended to burn himself to death. I suggest he wanted to get himself arrested by starting the fire ,but it grew faster than he expected.
Jumping in front of a train or jumping off a building are the cheapest methods of suicide. What was a guy with no money doing out late at night in an entertainment area?

Poor people, died alone, horribly, painfully. Who will mourn them?

He wanted to commit suicide, so he killed 15 people in an arson attack. He fails at failing.
