Good question. I think they should open up some of these abusive parents' skulls while they're conscious and pick their brains in order to find out. Literally.

Japan is a stressful place to live as a parent. In the UK I was never worried if my child cried in public or at home. Here you have people giving you the look of death or banging on your walls if they cry. It's super stressful.

Obviously being stressed should not result in murder but we all have different limits till we snap.

Lately? This has been going on for ages here. 90% of the time or more they use the excuse that the child "wouldn't stop crying" which somehow in their heads justifies choking/beating/dropping. Youths are not being taught enough about the responsibilities that come with parenthood.

i used to idolize japan when i was brainwashed high schooler "wow japan so much cooler then ___" but now that im much mature i realize japan has LOADS of problems! no way in hell will i ever want to live there. vacations in japan? yes! living there? nope lol. japan is too discriminatory, old fashion against other race n stuff. until that island smartens up yeh maybe i'll move there but that'll never happen lol culture there is too strict, oblivious, uptight and i feel sorry for people there. i wanna save em all.

Just to clarify, this run of infant deaths is not 'recently'. It's 'regularly' and has been for many years. Many Japanese just do not know how to handle their emotions. These rage invoked infant deaths, stalking and a very high percentage of the population suffering manic depression paint a pretty grim picture of the emotional state of many Japanese. They just don't know how to deal with it. The doctors just dish out anti-depressants like candy and the cops do the counseling and give 'stern warnings'. There was a study done a few years ago that concluded 27% of Japanese adults suffer some sort of emotional or mental disorder. That's nearly one-in-three. Sad, but true!

Maybe I am, but the shaken baby syndrome is not part of this case. She was thrown to the floor in an uncontrolled rage. You don't have to be a doctor to notice how many agoraphobic and depressed people are sitting in. The train carriage with you. There is one old fella here right now having a good old chat with himself. Many Japanese ae extremely emotionally fickle. You don't have to be a doctor to see that.

yeah, but this was not some 18 year old who got himself in too deep too young. This guy was 38! Im really sick of all the young parents bashing that goes on this country - the majority of those murdering their kids are older parents who are unable to copy with the flexibility and patience required to have a child, after having things their own way all their life.

It appears that Japan does not have effective facilities, nor institutions or government systems, or policies in place for "their" such incidents....But it also appears gaigins will get the "correct" facilities, or institutions or government systems, or policies::::whose foolin who?

Another major problem "apparently" in Japan from what I've noticed in the media ...appears to be a twisted sense of DENIAL on many levels and the hammer the nail down image protection syndrome. Thess issues underline indicators of a myriad social dysfunctions.

For example I've also noticed that when some comments hit home, (a taboo) an archaic response is "well it happens in other countries- a clear sign of bipolar reality escapism. I've also noticed that when comments hit home, they receive ridiculus thumbs down, another sign of DENIAL, and image protection.

Well such behavior may seem effective in this forum but guess what? There are people viewing this type of "reactionary" responses and also see that for what it is......

Infant mortality rate, or infanticide rate. Big difference. We're reading about this kind of thing EVERY DAY here, when it's even reported.

You would think that 38 year old man, blessed to be able to have a child, would be mature enough to know that babies cry when they are hungry, sick, hurt or need their diapers changed.

It's sad that a baby died but it's hard on everyone. He might have reached his breaking point that day with how stressful life can be here in Japan, especially as a parent and I wouldn't doubt it that he also works full time (and that overtime that most companies don't pay for).

Sad that his daughter died but I'm sure that he regrets it more than anyone else can.

I give the man some respect for turning himself in. Not many people would have done that.

I was looking for child-murder statistics in Japan but could find none, I did however find year 2000 this article about child murder rate rocketing in the US: http://www.wnd.com/2000/03/1958/ It's from a pro-gun rag, pointing out that few of the murders were committed with a gun (proving there is no need to use a gun against a child). Relevance: Perhaps some of the conclusion in the article can be applied to the Japan situation.

Japan needs a lot more love. People here seem so stressed out and worry to much what the others think. It's the lack of expression mixed with true emotion that leads some of these people to have such extreme mind sickness.

reckon they need some true love and passion to cope with the inter hidden and often mixed feelings?? Pray for a change in the mentality within Japan and pray for the poor innocent child whose life never begin and was taken by this monster.

I agree. Most babies would bounce right back up after getting dropped. Then again who knows what else was done to her.
