Parents arrested for abusing 3-month-old son

Police Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture, have arrested a man and his wife on suspicion of abusing their three-month-old son in March.

According to police, Fuminori Kariyazono, 27, and his wife Mikae, 28, are accused of violently shaking the body of their son at their apartment on March 5 and March 6 until his condition worsened and he had to be taken to a hospital.

Staff at the hospital contacted child welfare authorities after an examination showed that the baby had suffered a skull fracture and other injuries, Fuji TV reported. The baby’s injuries will take a year to fully heal, police said.

The father has admitted to injuring his son, but was quoted by police as saying he did not think it was dangerous. He also said he dropped his son on a tatami floor once.

Police are looking into the possibility that the baby may have been regularly abused by his parents. The couple also has a one-year-old son, but no details regarding his situation have been yet provided.

They have a one year old son and also a three month old baby?

Both children should be taken into protective care until these parents can prove they'll never do something like this again. That probably means they should never get their children back though because anyone who can abuse a tiny little baby is a monster.

Good grief! You think of all the couples in the world that want children but can't have them and here you have a couple who who have two kids in quick succession and abuse them with no regret what-so-ever. Take these kids away from these monsters and give them to real parents.

Idiots! How does a grownup not know that violently shaking an infant is high dangerous, let alone dropping the infant. I would love for him to be dropped from a few stories, scumbag parents.

My son is 3 months old - this is unfathomable behavior form the people this baby relies on to survive.

What was he expecting? A grease down and a shiatsu?

They knew what they were doing, U can see a many like that, walking around, flying through the streets on bicycles, ,pushing carts, dangerously through intersections, and middle of the roads, and some swaggering their infants in back and front sacks, like the feeling of joy has quickly worn off.

There was a time when the new mother's mother would help out for the first few months. Ah, the extended family, what a blessing that was...

"the baby had suffered a skull fracture and other injuries"

I seems animal rights in the US are upheld a hell of a lot more than here

Osaka_Doug: "The Japan health system needs to understand that there is a risk for parents to develop postpartum depression and hurt their children."

So, what's the father's excuse, since you insist on bringing up PPD? The excuse of PPD and other excuses are brought up enough without now extending them to the father as well, thank you very much.

Find a better home for this poor child. The parents need to be chemically castrated.

wondering if anyone knows if there is PPD consulting given to new parents in Japan?

There is. My wife got it when pregnant both times.

How do you have kids 9 months apart? You mean to say she pushed out one baby and he started banging her the next day??

Wow, what a lowlife.
