I guess one of the great things about being a communist is that you can line up a scapegoat like this guy whenever you need one.
CrazyJoe
There is a possibility that through this trial the Chinese authorities want to show a determined posture toward food safety issues, being aware of the present Sino-Japan relations. By the way this man was indicted back in August 2010. Why this timing?

You seem to be confusing communism with totalitarianism. A very common and convenient mistake made by those who seek to justify or whitewash the terrible inequalities caused by capitalism.

Another reason why so many people in Japan (rightly?) refuse to eat Chinese made prdiuce.
hidingout
Semantics. Communism (as practiced in the real world) is just totalitarianism pretending to have a greater purpose. My point above stands regardless of which label you wish to affix to the corrupt government of PRC. They can try (and execute) anyone they want on whatever trumped up charges they feel like. And they do it all the time.
Inequality is a fact of biology. I suspect even communists realize this.

Including Chinese who live in Japan. Lady at work takes orders from friends and relatives back home for things like baby formula and posts it there. That speaks volumes.

I'm not defending the brutal Chinese regime for a minute. It's not anything like communist, or even socialist, though, is it? A bit unfair to use the Beijing government to attack left-wing philosophy in general.

Chinese food products, processed or not, do have poor safety records.
Thankfully they have tough penalties for willfully producing harmful food products, and hope to see this practice become a thing of the past.
Knox Harrington
Yeah, volumes of ignorance. I remember that Meiji had some problems with radiation in their baby formulas a few months after Fukushima Daiichi. Japanese produce might be better than Chinese one, but that doesn't say much.

Uhhh ... yeah it is. They call themselves communists. The communist party controls every detail of the lives of the citizens. Everyone around the word identifies them as communists. You can split hairs all you want, doesn't change the fact that PRC is a self-labelled communist country.
Are you saying that's what I did? Cause I certainly take exception to that. I hate lefties as much as the next guy, but I can distinguish between Obama and Li Keqiang.
Elbuda Mexicano
If this idiot Lu did poison the gyozas, well not much hard feelings for this guy, so my guess the Beijing government will make an excellent example out of him and let him hang for his sins against the almighty $$$ that Beijing and Tokyo love so much!

The old East Germany called itself the "German Democratic Republic". How democratic was it? Well, we both know the answer to that. China is a nation of plutocrats, interested only in retaining power and handing it on nepotistically. It's about as communist as the US.
"I hate lefties as much as the next guy,...."
Well, you show your true colours. You hate "lefties", so you hate me, fine, but the Chinese government isn't run by "lefties", it's run by despots. Your'e mis-targeting your hate.

A bit too late for a mock trial China - not even your own people trust you anymore!

I don't know, he could have been a lone psychopath. Remember the Tylenol poisoning in the US? Or they might have tortured a confession out of him. Can't say for sure.
Ever been to China? The inequalities there are even more radical and the people can't do a thing about it.

The Sentence ?- Life in a Fortune Cookie Factory!
Pukey2
Christ, almost as bad as the way the police force out confessions in Japan.
justbcuzisay
Fortune cookies are American food
cramp
he'd love that coz now he'll be shipped to the oakland factory to make cookies
Mirai Hayashi
He may get the death penalty for this.

You have to be nuts to buy anything that comes out of the PRC.
Hell, if the people of the PRC don't trust products "made in china", how could anyone else?LOL
