If anyone for a single moment take this seriously, they have to be mad. 140 cops 'working on the case'. don't tell me... They're also working in shifts! Round the clock, right? This really translates into: 140 idiots have been given print out profiles and asked to keep an eye out for the creep. Then back to bicycle thefts, the thing they really excel at. Unbelievably cruel farce for the girl's parents. Then again they probably have no real idea about how stupid Japanese cops really are. RIP

why did Lindsay Hawker go to the apartment of these man? an honest woman do that?

I saw a program last month (might have been the same one mentioned above by elbudamexicano) which showed footage of the pair in a cafe, might have been Doutour, and her father was talking through it and said she looked a bit drugged out.

Later they went through the chase by the cops afterwards, it went on and on. Ichihashi was barefoot but a bit of an athlete and the donuts were no match for him in the end despite their numbers.

Program then moved on to Shinjuku 2-chome, where several people are pretty sure they saw him, but that's not certain. It is possible he spent some time there in a rather cheap place, and only left the premises at night to get things or whatever.

Anyway I don't reckon he's in the forest somewhere. At the same time I think the cops have kept an eye out so he's just done a great job of being a weasel.

Source and accuracy are the news here.

And fair and open-minded are the commentators.

Reducing the 140 police won't have any effect whatsoever on whether the murderer is caught or not. People in this country, all have eyes and see what's around them (when they want to) could call #110 (emergency) on a cell phone (who doesn't have one or two) and the guy would be caught. But its like the 3 missing Aum members, and the 3km drag guy in Osaka. When people know they're goners, they just disappear. Of course, I have no clue how or at what juncture, but they do. We can speculate all we want, but until there's some proof, its all just hot air. OF course, the families of victims remain beyond themselves and need to reach a stage of resignation concerning the issue, though never a day or night will go by that they can live in peace after experiencing such personal tragedy.

I don't believe that until they find his body. He probably hasn't been found becasue he fled the country.

  • KitsuneYoukai at 12:13 AM JST - 25th October

I can't believe this guy has eluded everyone. His disguises must eb working. I say he's alive and well. Sad thing is he may do this again but this time to Japanese people.

I bet someone from the outside can find him.

why did Lindsay Hawker go to the apartment of these man? an honest woman do that?

Idiot. Women are entitled to do whatever men do when they are adults. Yes that's right, you CAN go back to someone's apartment if you feel quite safe and comfortable with them. The point here is that this murderer tricked her and then went on to torture her and kill her (God rest her soul). Girls can do whatever they wish and that doesn't make them dishonest you idiot. I guess you believe that a guy can go back to a girls apartment and it doesn't make a guy dishonest ?

  • shuuu at 03:06 AM JST - 25th October

If half a dozen cops are unable to catch some guy running past them in his bare feet, why is anyone surprised that 140 haven't been able to either?

  • movieguy at 06:03 AM JST - 25th October

MovieGuy here... Sorry that I misspoke above about Mr. Hawker. I knew he had been in Japan, but what I should have said that he hasn't spent ENOUGH time in Japan to know about the "sempai/kohai" situation and that bringing in "fresh faces" will only help the police to let the case die because those fresh faces will not openly disagree with their sempai and they will follow their sempai blindly. I meant no disrespect to Mr. Hawker.

  • letstalk at 04:02 PM JST - 25th October

Ichihashi, unemployed, is on a nationwide wanted list on suspicion of abandoning the body of Hawker.

He is on a wanted list for what??? Merely for being on suspicion of abandoning the body? OMG!

  • cow76 at 04:10 PM JST - 25th October

He probably hasn't been found becasue he fled the country.

And how would you go about 'fleeing' Japan? Occam's razor would suggest the guy is hiding or dead. He has a pretty distinctive face and hiding would be difficult so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's done the right thing and offed himself.

why did Lindsay Hawker go to the apartment of these man? an honest woman do that?

Ponyo, your imagination is beyond me!!! This woman came to Japan to teach English, not all lessons are done in places like classrooms, or any public place for that matter. Being in his apartment has nothing, I MEAN NOTHING, to do with her HONESTY. Come on, give the poor woman a break! She has been murdered by a hideous man who is STILL AT LARGE!

  • angeljapan at 01:13 PM JST - 27th October

I don't think he's offed himself. He's probably hiding some where; the police just are looking hard enough. I do think that they're looking though. They just need to open their eyes wider. Perhaps prop them open with toothpicks? It might be time to appeal to the British government and bring in an outside agency Mr. Hawker.

Why has this story been removed from the site? Other stories are on here for much longer, especially when they concern tarento, sponsors and kawaii cr@p. Oh, thats right, the Japanese don`t like foreigners seeing bad stuff about Japan, and that the Japanese bury their head in sand about.

Moderator: It hasn't been removed from the site.
