With all of the surveliance cameras they have they SHOULD be able to find a car driven on a main road at 4am. The killer drove past one POLICE STATION and 1 Koban at the very least. Chances are he drove past one or two more and through an intersection or two with cameras
I agree. The Cops have been useless. This place is camered up. Ever heard of Jukinet? The cops should have known the suspect within hours.
I'll wager the flatfeet got a call from the company that owns the car and they reported that the "driver" was missing.
Looks like the police didn't get a chance to use their vast array of knowledge and crime fighting equipt.
Batman's rep would really drop if the Joker gave himself up or his moll turned him in all the time.

How did he drive past a police station? He was hit in front of Osaka station by the Hilton from my understanding which while close to a huge police station there is no way they could have seen it. He then drove past one koban - the one closest to my house - but it is on the opposite side of the street so no way in heck could anyone have seen it. Give the cops a break. They are doing a good job in this case.
The guy beleived to have caused this accident works for the company that owned the car. He used the car often while both on and off duty. His boss was suprised when the guy all of a sudden just quit and that they never heard from him since then. The cops are currently trying to locate him as he is a person of interest.
I don't know from which sources most of you bloggers get your information from because your posts don't seem to have the facts right.
Police have found the car they believe struck a man in Osaka in October and dragged him about 3 kilometers to his death,
Everyday I ride a bicycle I pray not getting hit from the side, behind or in front. Everyday it's an adventure !!!!! Japan should offer a manditory refresher for all drivers. Don't carry a new born baby on your lap while driving. Don't shave while navigating through a S-Curve in the road. Don't drive a company car wreckless or 87KPH on a badly pothole filled farm road. Don't speed 58km and turn on high beams to blind bicyclist on a narrow pothole filled very bad road at night.
Everybody should get a fresher course. I've seen these young guys driving white company cars like their in a RALLY COMPETITION ? They don't understand if they crash the car or kill someone with a company car they might go to jail maybe for a long time ? I guess they forget and they think they are playing Super Mario Cart or something ???? Imagine seeing a blood trail and body parts for 3 km that's scary !!!!!

maybe they've seen such incidents on the NHK news and noticed that you can kill several people in a car and get a suspended sentence, back to work the next day.
Imagine seeing a blood trail and body parts for 3 km that's scary !!!!!There was no blood trail or body parts - at least not in front of my place.
Drivers here certainly do suck but I think those walking and biking also need to take responsibility. This guy was drunk and crossing at a very busy intersection where there are no crosswalks - guess he was too lazy to use the crossing bridges. To fault only the driver in this is very, very unfair. Drunk, crossing a huge interection late at night... not exactly the driver's fault. Not stoppping is another all together but man, I feel for thr driver. Had he stopped, not been drinking and basically was at the wrong place at the wrong time he would STILL be held 100% at fault. Japan needs to change their laws on this.
He was hit across the street from the Sonezaki police station and he drove past the koban located across the street from the Ritz Carlton.
Yes, I suppose the poolice in the big station couldn't really be expected to see it,BUT they are the police and it IS their responsiblity. And it DID happen right under their nose. So I guess it is difficult to say they should have seen it.....but.....these are the best police in the world with the highest technology, best training, highest conviction rate, koban system...ect, So...
I don't know what the circumstances surrounding this death are, but JN's in general have this feeling of, "he wouldn't dare run me over or run into me...! Why... "because I'm Japanese and I'm in the right!"
It's too bad people have to die to understand that you really need to look both ways before crossing any streets... Because cars don't always see you and they might not always stop...
He was hit across the street from the Sonezaki police station There is NO crosswalk in front of the station. The dead guy was an idiot to cross there as it is a HUGE intersection.

They're ultimately responsible for finding the perp, of course, but they can't automatically be assumed to see everything that happens in their vicinity. That's asking too much. Either way, after the Hawker case, not solving another high-profile case would have been a big black eye in terms of public opinion.

Quirinus agrees with romulus. Why can't the cops do a good job? there seems to be no common snese there. I feel sorry for the poor guy.

You would think that they've already gotten a name of the owner of that car. Watch it be either as drunk or teenage in mom's/dad's car.
