Police, parents seek public help over child's murder in 2004
OKAYAMA —
Police in Tsuyama, Okayama Prefecture, and the parents of Yukiko Tsutsushio, a 9-year-old girl who was murdered in 2004, sought help from the public this week to come forward with any information that might help them solve the cold case.
Police have been handing out leaflets outside train stations and shopping malls, hoping for a new lead, TBS reported.
The child was stabbed to death after she returned home from school just after 3 p.m. on Sept 3, 2004. Her parents were out at the time.
Since the crime, more than 42,000 police officers have worked on the case but so far have found no suspects.

Hope they find the culprit but it doesn't seem likely at this stage. That 42000 number has to be a misprint or maybe every policeman in the region has worked on this case?

So many sick terrible evil people in this world who can do something like this to another human being, let alone a little child. Pure evil always lurks in every corner

2004? It's nearly the end of 2012. Seriously J-cops, most people can't even remember what they had for breakfast yesterday, never mind a stranger they happened to glimpse doing something a little bit supsicious 8 years ago.
For high-priority cases, like murder, rape, etc. they need to send out a call for public help the day the case is reported. It needn't identify anyone, just a local announcement like, "Someone was murdered in this area yesterday. If you saw anything please report to your local police.".

A cold case getting colder. I agree with Frungy. Too bad there are such scum running around that need to be found and hanged.

Sad, but they won´t find closure. Too much time has passed, If the J-cops ever had a chance to solve it, it is gone.

May her soul be resting in Peace. They will never nab this evil killer now - and I doubt the cops - despite the resources - have even come close to getting a lead. Poor investigative ability. The poor girl would have been in her final year of High School this year.

Such a strong show of love here. May her parents never give up until justice is done.

"more than 42,000 police officers have worked on the case." Can that statistic be right? In any case, I hope this new push for information will turn up something, anything, that might help her parents and loved ones.
